Thank my lucky stars, I’ve been taken under the Thank my lucky stars, I’ve been taken under the wing of some very good and talented people on a little extra leg of my Balearic immersion. I’ve come back to Menorca, feeling drawn to its nature and simplicity. In a way, I’m a guest of Studio Ajuar, whose Carmen Mosquera is sharing her knowledge of artisan work in the islands while steeping me in her own deep understanding of BauHaus, materials, and form. The first thing I noticed in her home was the Anonimo lamp, a prototype which spent two years becoming ready to produce and sell. The studio’s ethos comes down to a collaboration between architect and artisans, where furniture and objects are designed to create atmosphere, not quite to decorate. When I build my dream home, I’ll be consulting with these guys.

Please meet a series of very special heritage desi Please meet a series of very special heritage designs from the ancient walled city of Ghardaïa, in the heart of Algeria, also known as the "the Pearl of the Oasis". Ghardaïa was founded almost 1000 years ago in the M’Zab Valley in the Sahara Desert. A UNESCO World Heritage site, the indigenous people are Berber, aka Amazigh. Rug weaving is an ancestral family craft in the region and remains the main source of income for many families in Ghardaïa. The rugs made by this collective help many families rise out of poverty by buying their wool and employing them as weavers.
An assortment of 10 rugs is available in the web shop, link in bio.

I wrote a journal post this morning in honor of the Spring Equinox and to celebrate new beginnings - there are a few exciting Nomadic work updates and a travel reflection or two. Work is good news, coming to life in a web of excellent directions, all the things I’ve prepared for are happening. I’m very excited to co-produce an event with Open Studio here in Santa Catalina, an amazing textile atelier headed up by a talented and like-minded colleague, Tatiana, who is totally my cup of tea. On May 14 we’ll host ReNew – a day of clothing and home textile swapping, redesigning, refurbishing – with natural dyes, mending, tailoring, and embroidery – a coming together to give new life to existing pieces while connecting and learning from each other. I’ll also lead a workshop for female entrepreneurs on May 11 centered around business and project identity with a bright young woman called Marina hosting, founder of the lovely bookshop La Salina. We’ll get into exercises to clarify message, mission, content, platforms, etc., and step into business networking in the process. This will be a true pleasure as it marks the end of my Playing Big Facilitators Training with Tara Mohr, and my half way mark to coaching certification.

And this … in early summer I’ll be moving into a historic building across the street from the outrageously beautiful Palma Cathedral, creating a conscious salon of sorts – hosting indie designer trunk shows and textile talks, healing music and wellness events, humanistic art and more. This is so super exciting – very special colleagues like Love Binetti and The Plant Lore are in the works from the US and further afield as well as talented local creatives and makers.
I’ve been feeling sheepish about posting from a I’ve been feeling sheepish about posting from a place of personal rebirth and geographical beauty and good fortune - as the world churns, and the people of Ukraine face daily tragedy. To aknowledge the often shadowy and mysterious duality of life on our planet, I’ve just donated to a fund my dear friend has created for Ukrainian refugees being brought to safety in Italy by the formidable charity, Sant Egidio. May there be peace. Link to donate is in bio, if you wish. These images are from stunning Menorca, a bucolic, windswept gem with heaps of complex, colonial history.

A freezing cold plunge catapulted me into this new A freezing cold plunge catapulted me into this new year - let’s go ! I shouted like crazy and flailed abundantly - both totally cathartic and underrated ways to shake off last year’s vibes, or multiple years even.

I found the courage and inspiration to do this wacky thing due to two major gifts in this life - majestic nature and soul-level friends.
In 2022 I pledge to steep myself in both.

I will also:
Let my silver hair out.
Learn Spanish better.
Try Mallorca on for size.
Re-style myself with some new, up-cycled and sustainable new threads.
Introduce a more deliberate consulting and mentoring practice.
Love more.
Laugh loads.
And generally be more me than ever before.
